This was the week that Cleveland was in the news for booking the 2016 Republican National Convention and for LeBron James deciding to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. It was also the week our Canoedling in Cleveland books arrived, and we sent out review copies to publications in Cleveland and Washington, to literary contacts, and thank-you copies to people who helped us. It was the week the book went live on Amazon and Kindle . . . the week we sent press releases to a hundred email contacts . . . and the week we began selling copies to local acquaintances. It was fun sending one to my old employer–the Cleveland Plain Dealer–the newspaper I carried for four years, under the stars and in rain and snow, back in the fifties.
Next on the agenda is the Burning River Fest in Cleveland, at the mouth of the Cuyahoga River, which caught on fire in 1969, from 6-11 pm on July 25 and 26, where we hope to share the book with lots of people from Northeast Ohio. There will be 8,000 people, 25 bands, environmental exhibits, dancing, and lots of beer. And more emails and review copies to send out!
