In 2005, a Muslim woman holds a candle at a 9/11 remembrance vigil in Washington, DC.

In this blog post, I continue the previous posts (Parts 1, 2, 3, and 4), which I started when I wondered what stereotype I fit that would cause someone to think that I would welcome anti-Muslim emails. That email stimulated me to do some research and give substantive answers to the questions that were asked. Investigating a topic gives me inspiration for writing,  as my research about lynchings in 1907 led to my novel Well Considered.

[Continuing:  the anti-Muslim email questions are on the left, and my responses are indented and italicized on the right.]

(Part 5) 9/11

Finally, Mr. Obama, where were Muslims on September 11th, 2001?  If they weren’t flying planes into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon or a field in Pennsylvania killing nearly 3,000 people on our own soil, they were rejoicing in the Middle East. No one can dispute the pictures shown from all parts of the Muslim world celebrating on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and other cable news network’s that day. Strangely, the very “moderate” Muslims who’s asses you bent over backwards to kiss in Cairo, Egypt on June 4th were stone cold silent post 9-11. To many Americans, their silence has meant approval for the acts of that day.

I will never forget the foreign terrorists who destroyed the twin towers in New York and killed over 3,000 Americans there, plus 248 at the Pentagon, plus the 44 heroes on Flight 93 in Pennsylvania. But you ask, where were Muslims on 9/11?

Sixty of them died in the Twin Towers (Yahoo Answers): Samad Afridi, Ashraf Ahmad , Shabbir Ahmad (45 years old; Windows on the World; leaves wife and 3 children) , Umar Ahmad , Azam Ahsan , Ahmed Ali , Tariq Amanullah (40 years old; Fiduciary Trust Co.; ICNA website team member; leaves wife and 2 children) , Touri Bolourchi (69 years old; United Airlines #175; a retired nurse from Tehran) , Salauddin Ahmad Chaudhury , Abdul K. Chowdhury (30 years old; Cantor Fitzgerald) , Mohammad S. Chowdhury (39 years old; Windows on the World; leaves wife and child born 2 days after the attack) , Jamal Legesse Desantis , Ramzi Attallah Douani (35 years old; Marsh & McLennan) , SaleemUllah Farooqi , Syed Fatha (54 years old; Pitney Bowes) , Osman Gani , Mohammad Hamdani (50 years old) , Salman Hamdani (NYPD Cadet) , Aisha Harris (21 years old; General Telecom) , Shakila Hoque (Marsh & McLennan) , Nabid Hossain , Shahzad Hussain , Talat Hussain , Mohammad Shah Jahan (Marsh & McLennan),  Yasmeen Jamal , Mohammed Jawarta (MAS security) ,
Arslan Khan Khakwani , Asim Khan , Ataullah Khan ,  Ayub Khan , Qasim Ali Khan , Sarah Khan (32 years old; Cantor Fitzgerald) , Taimour Khan (29 years old; Karr Futures) , Yasmeen Khan , Zahida Khan , Badruddin Lakhani , Omar Malick , Nurul Hoque Miah (36 years old) , Mubarak Mohammad (23 years old) , Boyie Mohammed (Carr Futures) , Raza Mujtaba , Omar Namoos , Mujeb Qazi , Tarranum Rahim , Ehtesham U. Raja (28 years old) , Ameenia Rasool (33 years old) , Naveed Rehman , Yusuf Saad , Rahma Salie & unborn child (28 years old; American Airlines #11; wife of Michael Theodoridis; 7 months pregnant) , Shoman Samad , Asad Samir , Khalid Shahid (25 years old; Cantor Fitzgerald , engaged to be married in November) , Mohammed Shajahan (44 years old; Marsh & McLennan) , Naseema Simjee (Franklin Resources Inc.’s Fiduciary Trust) , Jamil Swaati , Sanober Syed , Robert Elias Talhami (40 years old; Cantor Fitzgerald) , Michael Theodoridis (32 years old; American Airlines #11; husband of Rahma Salie) , and W. Wahid.

Answers also says, “According to the BBC: among those killed in the Twin Towers were an estimated 70 Muslims (This does not include the 19 hijackers).”

And all Muslim organizations in America were not “stone cold silent.” They loudly denounced the attack. (http://islam.about.com/cs/currentevents/a/9_11statements.htm):

“Muslim Condemnations of 9/11
Muslim leaders condemn violence and terrorism”

“For the record, the inhuman attacks of September 11 were condemned in the strongest terms by virtually all Islamic leaders, organizations, and countries. The Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Judicial Council summarized that, “Islam rejects such acts, since it forbids killing of civilians even during times of war, especially if they are not part of the fighting. A religion that views people of the world in such a way cannot in any sense condone such criminal acts, which require that their perpetrators and those who support them are held accountable. As a human community we have to be vigilant and careful to preempt these evils.”

“For more statements by Islamic leaders, see the following compilations:

And THAT, Mr. Obama, is the “rich heritage” Muslims have here in America . . .Oh, I’m sorry, I forgot to mention the Barbary Pirates. They were Muslims.

Yes: The Barbary Pirates were terrorists (not religious Muslims, who condemn violence) who hijacked a religious affiliation just as the Ku Klux Klan hijacked Christianity (which also condemns violence).  See also the comments in Part 1 about Thomas Jefferson and the Barbary pirates.

And now we can add November 5, 2009 – the slaughter of American soldiers at Fort Hood by a Muslim major who is a doctor and a psychiatrist who was supposed to be counseling soldiers returning from battle in Iraq and Afghanistan. Also, don’t forget the Boston Marathon bombing on April 15, 2013 was done by two Muslim Brothers. That, Mr. Obama is the “Muslim heritage” in America

Don’t forget our NON-MUSLIM Heritage of HOME-GROWN TERRORISTS, such as:
