Again I share with you an invitation from Dick Epstein, as I am returning to read and sing at Alfio’s on Feb. 18 – https://richardmorrisauthor.wordpress.com/2015/01/12/warrior-arts-cafe/
Here is his message:
The Warrior Arts Café at Alfio’s in Chevy Chase continues with its open mic event Feb 11 and Feb 18.
Bring three or four of your own poems or those written by a poet you admire. Feb 18 features Dick Morris and Dr. Lewis Sorley. Dick Morris is the author of three books and an award-winning CD. He served as rifle platoon leader in the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) and his songs and book present an insightful picture of life in the 1st Cav. and life at war.
Dr. Sorley is a graduate of West Point and served in tank and armored cavalry units in Germany, Vietnam, Pentagon staff duty and teaching at the US Military Academy and the Army War College. Dr. Sorley’s nine books include three biographies, Thunderbolt: General Creighton Abrams and the Army of His Times; Honorable Warrior: General Harold K. Johnson and the Ethics of Command, and Westmoreland: The General Who Lost Vietnam. His book A Better War: The Unexamined Victories and Final Tragedy of America’s Last Years in Vietnam was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. He will be reading excerpts from his biography of General Creighton Abrams.
We begin at 6.30 pm. Come before 6 for early the bird menu. Free appetizers for all readers/performers at open mike.
Warrior Arts Café is at Alfio’s Restaurant, 4515 Willard Ave, Chevy Chase MD (just North of Wisconsin and Western Aves, near Friendship Heights Metro. Located on the ground floor of the Willoughby apartment bldg.) Parking is free valet parking at the door. Come out and help us build the Café as a haven for local poets. Peace!
